The real cost of late books

Month-13 books cost more than a bookkeeper ever will.

When the ledger is three months behind, every decision downstream is a guess — and the IRS does not grade on effort. Trandock exists to make the close boring, predictable, and finished before you think to ask.

25%
Maximum IRS late-filing penalty — what unreconciled books can cost while the return sits.
$92K
Annual cost of one in-house bookkeeper, fully loaded with benefits and taxes.
8%
Annual IRS interest on underpayment, compounded daily on top of penalties.

What we run for you

Everything the books need. Nothing they don’t.

Start with the monthly close. Add payroll and CFO support as you grow — without re-explaining your business to a new vendor every time.

Monthly Bookkeeping

Categorization, reconciliation and a GAAP accrual close delivered on a fixed calendar — not whenever someone gets to it.

Catch-Up & Cleanup

Behind by a quarter or three years? We rebuild the history, restate the balance sheet and hand you an audit trail you can defend.

Payroll & Contractors

Run payroll on Gusto or Rippling with the ledger mapping already correct, and contractor records straight before January.

Fractional CFO

A 13-week cash model, a driver-based budget and a board pack that survives questions — without a $250K hire.

Where we stop, on purpose

We don’t file your taxes.
We make sure whoever does, can.

Trandock is a bookkeeping firm. We don’t prepare returns and we don’t give tax advice — we do the reconciliation your preparer has to trust before they sign anything.

Keep the CPA you have. If you need one, we will point you at firms our clients rate — we take no referral fee either way.

Controller’s note — August 2026

Revenue grew 7.6% month over month on wholesale reorders from three regional accounts. Gross margin slipped 0.9 points on a green-coffee price increase that took effect mid-month; the July purchase order locked pricing through October, so expect margin recovery in Q4. Marketing spend came in $4.6K under plan. Two vendor invoices totaling $11.2K were accrued but unpaid at period end and are reflected in accounts payable. No adjusting entries required beyond routine accruals.

Client outcomes

The people who stopped worrying about the 15th.

“We were eleven months behind and about to close a credit facility. Trandock rebuilt two years of books in five weeks and the lender’s diligence team had zero follow-ups. That has never happened to us.”

Dana Reyes CEO · Harborline Coffee Co.

“Our board deck used to take me a full weekend. Now the close lands on the 6th with a narrative I can paste in. I got my Sundays back and my numbers got better at the same time.”

Marcus Obi Founder · Northbend Robotics

“Two entities and nine accounts that had never been reconciled against each other. Trandock untangled all of it inside a month, and now our CPA’s year-end questions fit in a single email.”

Sarah Kwon COO · Fieldstone Supply

Common questions

Before you book the call.

Do you work in QuickBooks or do I have to switch platforms?

We work in QuickBooks Online and Xero, and we work inside your existing file. If your chart of accounts needs rebuilding we do that in place, with a documented mapping so prior-period comparisons still hold. You keep ownership of the subscription and the file.

How far behind can I be before it’s a problem?

It is never too late. Our catch-up work routinely covers two to three prior years. Pricing runs about $375 per month of back books at medium complexity, quoted after we look at transaction volume and how much source documentation survives. You get a restatement memo explaining every material adjustment.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Engagements are month to month after the onboarding period, with 30 days’ notice to cancel. Annual prepayment earns a 15% discount, but it is optional. If you leave, you take the ledger file and a full document export with you.

Who actually touches my books?

A named bookkeeper owns the day-to-day work and a controller reviews every close before it is delivered. On Advisory engagements a licensed CPA signs off on the package and leads the quarterly review. You will know all of them by name, and you will not be reassigned without notice.

Can you handle multiple entities and states?

Yes. Multi-entity consolidation, intercompany eliminations and multi-state payroll are standard on the Advisory tier and available as add-ons below it. Tell us the structure on the consult call and the quote will reflect it.

Do you file my taxes?

No. Trandock is a bookkeeping firm — we do not prepare or file returns and we do not give tax advice. What we do is hand your preparer a year-end package they can work straight from, in their format, with every adjusting entry sourced. Then we answer their questions directly, so nobody is reconstructing a year of transactions in March.
